Dr. leonard berenholz, m.d., f.a.c.s

Dr. Berenholz is originally from Philadelphia. His medical education, surgical, and otolaryngology training were undertaken in Philadelphia from 1979 through 1988. From 1988 until 1996, he was on staff at several hospitals in Philadelphia, including the Einstein Medical Center (a level 1 trauma center). In addition to working at Einstein Medical Center, he was an instructor at Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia. He was active in training residents at both Jefferson University Hospital and at Einstein Medical Center.

From 1998 until 1999, Dr. Berenholz trained with the Lippy Group Fellowship Program doing otologic reconstructive surgery. From 1999 until 2003, he directed otologic surgery at a large hospital in Israel. In 2001, he was appointed Assistant Professor at Tel Aviv University of Medicine. Dr. Berenholz has published thirty-three papers and two book chapters.

In 2003, Dr. Berenholz rejoined the Lippy Group. The emphasis of his practice is in hearing reconstructive surgery, especially in chronically infected ears. Recently, he began performing surgery for placement of a device known as the BAHA (bone anchored hearing aid). This device helps patients who have single-sided deafness or who are not reconstruction candidates and cannot benefit from a typical hearing aid.
